Woodie Flowers Award

Congratulations to Chris Paulik (Regulatory Affairs Leader-Product and active FIRST volunteer), winner of the prestigious Woodie Flowers Award at FIRST’s Wisconsin Regional in Milwaukee. The Woodie Flowers Award (WFA) recognizes one mentor per region whose excellent communication skills lead, inspire, and empower students. Each year, students submit an essay nominating one mentor from their team to be considered for this award. In their essay, Paulik's students indicated that he "pushes members to work hard and take on tasks independently. He does it because he wants students to reach their full potential." Paulik has dedicated over 270 hours this year to the two teams that he mentors.

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders by engaging them in programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills; inspire innovation; and foster self-confidence, communication, and leadership. GE Volunteers devote many hours to FIRST, which is becoming a global initiative with 46 countries currently participating.
